THE PROJECT

Ranna

At Ranna, we have set ourselves a mission: to offer innovation and Frenchmanufacturing for sport performance.

Simply put, we want to help athletes maximize their performance on any playing field. We'll explain a little further on how we do this...

Why did we do it?

To begin with, we created Ranna because we are eternal sports enthusiasts. But that's not enough. What makes us different is our approach.

Generally, a brand stands out because of its ability to invest massively in communication and marketing. It is associated with an image, a symbol, a universe. In the end, the act of buying is provoked by a feeling of identification with the brand.

But we forget the most important thing: the quality of the product. How was it made and under what conditions? What is its environmental impact?

At Ranna, we want to distinguish ourselves by our ability to innovate, to work on product quality and to share social values. To re-establish the proximity between the equipment manufacturer and the athlete is for us to get closer to the essential: passion & performance.

THE FOUNDERS

As you may have guessed, Cédric played 9 years in Ligue 1 and was also captain of the Eagles of Mali. Not to mention the Champions League! He interfaces with many professional players to understand their needs but also and especially to test our products.

Alex is the voice of Ranna. When we are called for an interview he is on the front line. The company's vision is his priority, and to get Ranna on the right track, he is the link between HQ and stakeholders.

Steven was trained at Racing Club de Strasbourg. He is the creative one. But he prefers to be called "Artistic Director". He loves fiddling with Photoshop to create content. We owe him the conception and design of our products.

OUR HISTORY

It all started with an observation

As former top-level sportsmen, we were forced to note that the socks proposed on the market were neither adapted nor optimised for the practice. So we did our little survey and found that 75% of professional footballers use alternative solutions. We wanted to understand why, so we called a hundred of them (thanks Cédric). They loved our approach and we were able to gather a lot of information.

We've heard a lot!

THE SOCK SLIPS INTO THE SHOE
IT GOES DOWN ALL THE TIME!
IT CREATES FRICTION AND THEREFORE BLISTERS
PROVIDES LITTLE OR NO SUPPORT FOR THE ANKLE
IT IS EITHER TOO THIN OR TOO THICK
IT DOESN'T LAST MORE THAN HALF A SEASON!

So we wanted to know their expectations: better reactivity on changes of support, ankle support, more stability, right foot/left foot ergonomics, a material that limits rubbing, better moisture management, etc.

Basically, more speed and more performance.

So we got to work. We went through tons of product videos/photos, talked to a lot of textile engineers, contacted manufacturers and research labs.

#INNOVATION

R-ONE GRIP

After hundreds of tests and a year and a half of research and development, the prototype was perfect, a sock that would meet the demands of our sportsmen: the R-One Grip 2.0. A revolutionary product. And because it is revolutionary, we decided to have it made in France. The first high performance sock 100% Made in France.

This is our universe!

OUR BUSINESS

In concrete terms, this is what we do

Already, we've become "performance product" dingoes. Yes, to each his own. We go through millions of socks every day. Anyone who wants to play "question for a sock" with us has already lost. Above all, it allows us to be on the lookout for the latest innovations and trends, and to follow the evolution of the market.

#PROXIMITY

Then we get closer to the pros

We ask sportsmen and women who inspire us and we ask them a lot of questions. We make a synthesis. Why do we do this? Because performance products must meet the specifications defined by the athlete himself.

Today, Ranna has been validated by almost 150 professional sportsmen and women. And that really gives us wings.

#PASSION

We work on our products with passion

That's the part we like best! We make ourselves a cup of coffee, sit on the sofa and get into Champions League mode. Everyone brings their ideas. We choose the ones that make us dream. The next day, the AD takes his graphic tablet (always with a smile on his face) and puts it all on screen.

He draws the prototypes with our ideas and the recommendations of the pros, he erases, he starts again. This first step takes him a little time. As soon as we start to vibrate in front of the screen, it's a good sign. We stop. We'll talk about it the next day. If vibrations are still there, we validate. Then we contact our suppliers to study the feasibility. We define the prototypes to be manufactured and we test them internally. Soon, they will be tested in the laboratory. Last step: we send them to our professionals who will test them on the field.

THE BOXER

R-UN

After the R-One range, we launched our R-UN boxer shorts, a real cloud for the crotch during exercise (in all honour, of course), and we don't intend to stop there.

#MADEINFRANCE

We work with French manufacturers who adhere to the project

There are not many textile manufacturers left in France, but it's like a big family. We work together when we are on the same wavelength and share the same values. Of course, when we speak the same language (literally and figuratively), it helps.

Our socks are knitted 50km from our premises at Labonal. In 2024 they will celebrate their 100 years of existence!

#HOW TO DO

We add our personal touch

The R-One Grip, for example, is still finished in our Strasbourg facility. Why is that? Because the grip is our innovation. We want to keep this stage of production in-house to keep part of the magic recipe. We apply the grip, like a signature, by hand.

For the packaging we chose a local packager, CartoEst. They offered us packaging made of 95% recycled cardboard. And our offices are 14km apart. We love it.

We're not afraid to say it, our ambition is to become the leader in performance clothing.

THE WORLD IS OURS 🙌
